Sickle Cell Sux is an awareness campaign that The M.A.D. Girls launched in 2014. The goal is to create awareness for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) during the month of September! Inspired by Jodi’s friend’s son Kwincy Lassiter and “Ice Bucket Challenge” that brought awareness to ALS, we thought, “Why could’t we do something like that too?”
In light of the ALS challenge which raised MILLIONS for the cause, we thought we’d jump on the bandwagon! 30k people suffer from ALS and
the awareness created was amazing…now people know! In the U.S. about 100k people suffer from Sickle Cell, primarily minorities. If we could create a fraction of the awareness through our Sickle Cell Sux campaign that would be success!
So, if you’d like to join in, find some lipstick, pucker up, take a selfie and post on social media with these hashtags: #sicklecellsux #boldlipsforsicklecell #IMAY
